Prof. David Linnan (http://www.law.sc.edu/linnan) is LFIP's Program Director. He studied modern languages at Emory University Atlanta (B.A.) as well as law at the University of Chicago (J.D.) and University of Freiburg i. Br. Prof. Linnan has done empirical police research and public law work at the Max-Planck-Institut fuer auslaendisches und internationales Strafrecht, Germany. He is a former corporate finance practitioner with banking and corporate reorganization experience. He has experience in a modern civil law jurisdiction (Germany), which background is useful to the extent Indonesian law is still premised formally on civil law models. Prof. Linnan reads Dutch, which is still helpful for deeper Indonesian law work, and speaks Bahasa Indonesia fluently. He is also involved within the on-going activities of leading Indonesian universities beyond a superficial level, and has established contacts at regional universities in conjunction with LFIP's on-going program.
