Projects

The course materials contain discussion problems for classes with the readings and video for each unit. However, in later units there are a number of problems that are more open-ended, or call for argumentation on different sides. These are what we refer to as projects. They are intended to be worked on by opposing teams of students well in advance of the days on which they are to be discussed. The project problems to be assigned in advance to different teams include:

Unit 13
Methanex & NAFTA Chapter 11 Challenges to Domestic Environmental Law

Unit 14
Three Gorges Dam, Rights Analysis and Hard Choices

Unit 16
Flathead Mine & Boundary Waters Treaty

Unit 17
ICC

Unit 20
SBT: Negotiations Re Fisheries Quotas and Trade Law
